The US gambling site is now looking at a possible fine of several million dollars after the games inventor took legal moves in order to protect their intellectual property.

A possible “kite mark” shown on gambling sites would show customers that the casino is licensed and regulated in the United Kingdom was a very popular idea. AT least 67% of online gamblers said they would prefer to gamble at a UK approved online website, as opposed to the millions of overseas online casinos. Once the Gambling Act becomes a reality in late 2007, the first UK based online casinos are set to appear with it.

The head of Prime Table Games, Derek Webb, commented on the survey, saying that, “Gamblers have clear expectations of how online gaming should operate. It’s vital that as the industry redefines itself in the light of the Gambling Act that the Gambling Commission aims to meet those expectations.”

At the rate that the market is increasing, revenue from internet gambling sites is expected to reach up to $24.5 billion by 2010. According to Christiansen Capital Advisors, US residents make up at least half of the market, while other companies claim that up to 70% of online gamblers live within the United States.

In 2005 the number of adult Americans placing bets on Internet gambling sites doubled to almost 4% of the adult population. According to the survey done by the American Gaming Association, this is about 8 million Americans that gambled online in 2005.

“It is a new place for people to gamble,” said Christiansen Capital consultant, Eugene Christiansen. “These are big businesses.”

MGM Mirage tried to break into the online casino world in 2001 with PlayMGMMirage.com, but the site was shut down in 2003 because of it’s prohibition of working with US residents.

“There is no business if you keep out everyone from the United States,” said Feldman.

“Most of our companies view internet gambling as possibly another profit center,” said AGA Chief Executive Frank Fahrenkopf. According to Fahrenkopf major casino companies like MGM Mirage and Harrah’s Entertainment, the top two companies of the world wide gaming industry, would certainly open internet gambling sites if it were legalized.
