Online Gamblers in UK Want More From Gambling Sites
Fans of gambling sites in the United Kingdom want their new Gambling Commission to play a more active part ahead of the possible adoption of the Gambling Act. A recent survey stated that players on UK gambling sites also want more information from the gambling sites.
Commissioned by one casino game inventor, Prime Table Games, the survey found that 73% of all UK gamblers though that the online gambling sites should let customers know if their website is run by a third party service provider. These 73% were not opposed to the actual outsourcing of their services, but a remaining 30% of those surveyed were very much opposed to any gambling sites outsourcing online operations.
Gambling websites will many times pay money to an affiliate, and this time 81% of gamblers surveyed felt that online casinos should tell customers when money is being paid to an affiliate. Shockingly, 44% out of those 81% said they would be unlikely to play online casino games at a gambling website where any wagers were shared with affiliates.
Online gamblers who participated in the survey felt strongly that casinos should license the proprietary games, and 80% of these wanted the licensing backed up by legislation. One case in the United States, in which an online gambling site is being sued by a games inventor, is a solid example of why the licensing should be backed up legally. The US gambling site is now looking at a possible fine of several million dollars after the games inventor took legal moves in order to protect their intellectual property.
A possible “kite mark” shown on gambling sites would show customers that the casino is licensed and regulated in the United Kingdom was a very popular idea. AT least 67% of online gamblers said they would prefer to gamble at a UK approved online website, as opposed to the millions of overseas online casinos. Once the Gambling Act becomes a reality in late 2007, the first UK based online casinos are set to appear with it.
The head of Prime Table Games, Derek Webb, commented on the survey, saying that, “Gamblers have clear expectations of how online gaming should operate. It’s vital that as the industry redefines itself in the light of the Gambling Act that the Gambling Commission aims to meet those expectations.”
