Online Gamblers in UK Want More From Gambling Sites

Fans of gambling sites in the United Kingdom want their new Gambling Commission to play a more active part ahead of the possible adoption of the Gambling Act. A recent survey stated that players on UK gambling sites also want more information from the gambling sites.

Commissioned by one casino game inventor, Prime Table Games, the survey found that 73% of all UK gamblers though that the online gambling sites should let customers know if their website is run by a third party service provider. These 73% were not opposed to the actual outsourcing of their services, but a remaining 30% of those surveyed were very much opposed to any gambling sites outsourcing online operations.

Gambling websites will many times pay money to an affiliate, and this time 81% of gamblers surveyed felt that online casinos should tell customers when money is being paid to an affiliate. Shockingly, 44% out of those 81% said they would be unlikely to play online casino games at a gambling website where any wagers were shared with affiliates.

Online gamblers who participated in the survey felt strongly that casinos should license the proprietary games, and 80% of these wanted the licensing backed up by legislation. One case in the United States, in which an online gambling site is being sued by a games inventor, is a solid example of why the licensing should be backed up legally. The US gambling site is now looking at a possible fine of several million dollars after the games inventor took legal moves in order to protect their intellectual property.

A possible “kite mark” shown on gambling sites would show customers that the casino is licensed and regulated in the United Kingdom was a very popular idea. AT least 67% of online gamblers said they would prefer to gamble at a UK approved online website, as opposed to the millions of overseas online casinos. Once the Gambling Act becomes a reality in late 2007, the first UK based online casinos are set to appear with it.

The head of Prime Table Games, Derek Webb, commented on the survey, saying that, “Gamblers have clear expectations of how online gaming should operate. It’s vital that as the industry redefines itself in the light of the Gambling Act that the Gambling Commission aims to meet those expectations.”

US Wants In On Internet Gambling Sites

Once the largest supporters of banning internet gambling sites, major United States brick and mortar casino companies are now becoming the industries biggest supporters. The intense media exposure over the past week continued today as Reuters and other news services continued examining the growing situation.

Although brick and mortar casinos are hardly losing business to foreign companies that operate internet gambling sites, these US businesses are hoping to gain access to this huge and ever growing market.

“It represents an enormous opportunity,” said MGM Mirage spokesperson, Alan Feldman. “And it is an opportunity that is being completely handed to foreign companies right now.”

Currently there is no US law focused on the legality of internet gambling site, but the government is standing by a 1961 federal law that prohibits interstate telephone betting. The US Justice Department has agreed that this law includes any forms of online gambling, and stated that it is illegal for any US company to own and operate and internet gambling site.

So far global revenue from internet gambling sites stood at $12 billion las year, which is quiet an upward leap from only $3.1 billion in 2001. At the rate that the market is increasing, revenue from internet gambling sites is expected to reach up to $24.5 billion by 2010. According to Christiansen Capital Advisors, US residents make up at least half of the market, while other companies claim that up to 70% of online gamblers live within the United States.

In 2005 the number of adult Americans placing bets on Internet gambling sites doubled to almost 4% of the adult population. According to the survey done by the American Gaming Association, this is about 8 million Americans that gambled online in 2005.

“It is a new place for people to gamble,” said Christiansen Capital consultant, Eugene Christiansen. “These are big businesses.”

MGM Mirage tried to break into the online casino world in 2001 with PlayMGMMirage.com, but the site was shut down in 2003 because of it’s prohibition of working with US residents.

“There is no business if you keep out everyone from the United States,” said Feldman.

“Most of our companies view internet gambling as possibly another profit center,” said AGA Chief Executive Frank Fahrenkopf. According to Fahrenkopf major casino companies like MGM Mirage and Harrah’s Entertainment, the top two companies of the world wide gaming industry, would certainly open internet gambling sites if it were legalized.

Online Gambling Resource Keeps Track of Friendly Bets

A fantastic online gambling resource is now available on the internet that helps people keep track of friendly bets.

This online gambling resource is unique, in that it not only allows bettors to track and follow bets within their local group, it also provides features to create bets, to post challenges for new bets and put up new and interesting stakes.

The site is a great online gambling resource for people who love to make life a little more interesting with a side bet, and the variety and scope of the site’s possibilities are far more open than that found in most online betting sites today.

The real purpose of the site is to set up bets between real people, compared to traditional betting sites that offer bets on competition sports. What’s more, this online gambling resource is totally free, unlike the majority of internet gambling sites whose sole purpose is to make money.

Using this online gambling resource, bettors can keep track of friendly bets on a range of topics limited only by the player’s imagination, such as betting on who can eat the most donuts in one minute or who can name the most types of fungus, as well as the standard bets on sports. Users of this great online gambling resource are not restricted to staking cash for their bets either. Since the site takes no commission on bets, players can create stakes of pretty much anything, from a dozen donut holes or a free lunch to money, making betting with this online gambling resource even more interesting.

The features provided by the online gambling resource include “buddy groups” which enables players to create groups of friends and family to join a group to bet with. The online gambling resource “buddy” page clearly displays all of a member’s groups with the group’s buddies clearly listed. Members can join existing groups or create new groups and then invite members to join their group with the click of one convenient button. Members of a group can easily use the online gambling resource to see what bets are currently on offer within the group and keep track of stakes.

The online gambling resource also features a log to list all stakes posted by any member of a group, which can be deleted at any time, provided the stake is not currently in use on any bets. Members of the online gambling resource are free to put up any stakes they like, with a title and description, and the site allows players to see exactly which stakes are at stake for which groups and which bets they apply to, whether it is cash, a car wash or a dinner out.

The bets are easy to follow, with a “bets” page that allows a member of the online gambling resource to challenge other group members to any bet they like. The facilities of the online gambling resource make it so easy – just click to create a new bet, fill in the details, such as “I bet I can swim the most laps in 10 minutes” or “The winner of the Super Bowl” with an appropriate stake from the list (or create a new stake for the bet), and email the challenge to buddies from any group.

Finally, the most important feature of the online gambling resource is the balance sheet. This page shows players clearly who owes who what and provides a convenient button to send a “pay-up” reminder email to any buddies on the page.

This is definitely one of the best ways to keep accounts of neighbourhood betting available on the net.
